What Is the Pershing Field Tennis Ladder?
The Pershing Field Tennis Ladder is a community-run singles competition open to players of all skill levels who regularly play at the park's courts. Players are ranked on a "ladder" — challenge someone above you, win the match, and move up. It's a fun, low-pressure way to get competitive matches in and meet fellow tennis players in the neighborhood.
No leagues. No schedules. Just show up, challenge, and climb.
How It Works
- Players are listed in ranked order on the ladder.
- You may challenge any player ranked up to 3 positions above you.
- Matches are arranged directly between players at a mutually agreed time.
- The winner reports the score, and the ladder is updated accordingly.
- If a challenge is not answered within 7 days, the challenger may claim the position by default.
Match Format
- Best of 3 sets, standard scoring
- Third set: 10-point match tiebreak (in lieu of a full third set)
- Warm-up: 5 minutes max
- All matches played on the Pershing Field courts, by mutual agreement
